Welcome to the jungle, you gonna die!!!!!!!! Nah, but seriously welcome back to the horrorfan blog. This is your host and site moderator: Stabby McKnife. I'd like you to think of me as the "Rod Serling from Twilight Zone" of this web site.

That's right. I want you to picture me in black and white, my hair slicked back with shiny black grease, and perpetually wearing a tuxedo. Even in 90 degree weather.

I digress.

If you are reading this that means one of two things: you and I are good friends or you are interested in as much obscure horror information as you can gather. kudo's to you in either case you crafty mother fucker! you are in for a treat!

Enough rambling. Here is some horror info: I fucking love ZOMBIES. that's right. zombies. and no...I'm not a band-wagon guy or a hipster. I've liked zombies since I was 12 years old, long before their recent surge to popularity thanks to movies like shaun of the dead, dawn of the dead (the 2004 remake) and zombieland. Also because of things like The Walking Dead (the show AND the comic both tremendously have boosted the common folks interest in zombies.) and books like World War Z.

How did I fall in love with zombies? The first Resident Evil game for the Playstation One. it was the first playstation game I ever played. I remember like it was yesterday. I was visiting my aunt at her boyfriends trailer in Miami. He was playing Resident Evil. I watched as he blew off a zombies head with a shotgun. With that first digital, cartoon like shower of blood I was hooked. I would go on to become a lifelong zombie fan.

Of course I picked up every Resident Evil game after that. Resident evil 2,3, code veronica, 4, outbreak file 1 and 2, 5, 6 etc. all the spin-offs. all the ports to other gaming systems. It got to the point where the only reason I upgraded to ps2 was because I had to to play resident evil 4. Guess why I got a PS3? Resident evil 5. Yeah.

From there I went on to read all the Resident Evil novels by s.d. perry. There are seven of them. The most recent one being a novelization of Resident Evi: Zero.

Resident evil was the root and the beginning of my interest in zombies. But it was not enough to fill my zombie fix. I was hungry...for more brains....and flesh. (fun fact: zombies wanting to eat Brain's started with the line "Brains!!!" from the 1985 film "Return of the living dead" which is a classic zombie film by the way.)

I went on to watch movies like dawn of the dead (the 2004 remake) which introduced the world to running zombies. I don't understand the hate some people have for running zombies. Guess what assholes? running zombies are scarier than walking, shambling zombies. sure walking zombies are more traditional (and they make more sense considering a zombie is a re-animated corpse in most cases) but ya know what? fuck off. I love running zombies just as much as a walker. yeah. I said it. sue me.

After watching modern zombie movies I decided to delve into the classics of the genre: Romero's "of the dead" trilogy. Night of the living dead, dawn of the dead and day of the dead. Of course they were great. Romero's newest zombie films land of the dead, diary of the dead and survival of the dead are also good for different reasons but they can't touch the magic of the original trilogy.

I'm also super into horror comedies. I started watching things like Peter Jacksons's best movie : dead alive (he made this in 1992 long before those crappy lord of the rings movies.) dead alive is considered by many to be one of the best zombie movies ever made. and it is also a pretty great horror comedy.

I also enjoyed return of the living dead (as I mentioned), shaun of the dead, fido, boy eats girl etc.

I'm into zombie novels as well. Cell by stephen king is basically a zombie novel (and a damn good one) I also have enjoyed:

1. day by day armageddon by J.L. Bourne

2. plague of the dead by Z.A. Recht

Anyways I could go on. But I won't. However I will leave you with a list of good zombie movies. check them out.

1. shaun of the dead

2. night of the living dead

3. dawn of the dead (1978)

3. day of the dead

4. land of the dead

5. diary of the dead

7. return of the living dead

ps. the pic for this blog entry isn't zombie related...but fuck off I like it.

I'd think of more but I don't feel like it. Stabby McKnife, signing off.
