Greetings earthlings and uranuslings. Stabby McKnife here. 2014 is about to end. But you know what will not end? The increasingly high level of awesomeness that is the world of Japanese horror films.
I recently just watch the thriller "Suicide Club" directed by the super talened Sion Sono. The movie was great. The premise was people were committing large group suicides and it was predicted on the internet before they occurred making them seem less like suicides and more like...murder. I won't say more for fear of spoilers but go check out Suicide Club. It's a mysterious little flick.
I also enjoyed another Japanese Horror film recently. "Ghost Train". Ghost crap usually isn't my cup of tea but the movie was super well done. May be a bit hard to find other than online. Amazon.com will be your best friend when it comes to acquiring obscure horror films, in case you did not already know that.
What do I want to see in horror films going forward in 2015 and beyond? good question, me. I'm glad I asked. I want to see limits pushed. I want to see orginality. Less sequels and remakes, and more of the HOLY SHIT THAT'S NEVER BEEN DONE IN HORROR BEFORE! variety.
I want to see independent horror have mainstream success. But as per usualy I want to see plenty of bloody violence, orginal fun kills and gratuitious nudity.
